Cheltenham Jazz Festival

Well what a star studded week we all had! The Jazz festival bought wonderful music from soul with Carol Brewster right through to foot tapping salsa with T G Collective. Our finale on Friday was Colin Salmon on his trumpet which was truly amazing and to add to all the excitement Dame Judi Dench was dining with us to support her friend and colleague much to the delight of other diners and staff.

Our Monday night Jazz still continues and you will find the listings under events.

Lastly we would like to welcome our newest member of staff Moira to the reception team. Moira is originally from South Africa and we hope she will be very happy here with us.

Cheltenham Gold Cup

Cheltenham Gold Cup proved to be very busy and exciting with lots of winners wending their way through the doors for evenings full of Champagne and celebrations. For those who did not go to the races we showed the days events in the Circle Bar on our plasma screens so as well as keeping warm and dry, they had the best seats in the house!

Monday Jazz evening was a sell out this week seeing a welcome return to the amazingly talented Ralph Allin playing his violin. Ralph absolutely captivated both staff and guests with high speed Irish jigs for St Patricks Day to slow evocative tunes such as Over The Rainbow so when he returns we strongly suggest reserving a table.

Next week we have Edgar Macia's K2 band who have not played here before, they will be performing latin and straight Jazz, we have been told to expect the unexpected which has got everyone excited!!

If you would like to book for Monday please use the online reservation system to the right or call 01242 700055.

Daffodil launch party

Wow what a night. The red carpet was down, the Bollinger flowing and canapes (which happened to be miniature dishes from our menu) served throughout the evening from the wonderful Daffodil Chefs. Laurence bought an amazing celebrity feel to the evening and everyone was thoroughly delighted to be able to talk to him about his creation here
at the restaurant.

During the evening we held a charity auction in aid of the Marie Curie Daffodil Appeal with lots of beautiful and exciting prizes. The total amount raised was £2480.00 which will be added to the   sponsorship money raised by the staff when they do their 10k run in May for the same charity.

End of the second week

Well the end of the second week has seen some vast changes to the upstairs. The new Bollinger Champagne & cocktail bar is starting to take shape. As you can see, the bar is still a semi circle but back against the wall. This has given way to a larger seating area which will be having sumptuous booth seating and leather chairs, ideal for dinner, afternoon tea or a cheeky cocktail!

Next week will see a general overview of both the restaurant and bar, so tune in on Tuesday for more exciting pictures and news from The Daffodil blog.

Work has started

Works started here at 7.30am on 2nd January which even though early was very exciting and all involved could not wait to get stuck in. The first week has seen a complete stripping of The Daffodil interior; we have lost all the furniture including the banquette seating which used to be in the centre of the room. We had to get two cherry pickers into the restaurant so the painters could reach the ceiling which was a tight squeeze we might add!
